One picture that caught fans' attention was that of India's mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy posing with a coffee cup as if it were the trophy.

The Indian spinner has now spoken out about the incident and made a slight dig at PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

What happened to India's Asia Cup trophy?

Team India wasn't handed over the Asia Cup Trophy post their victory over Pakistan in the finals. The side refused to accept it from the PCB and ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan's Interior Minister.

In what led to a massive controversy, Naqvi took the trophy away himself and has still not returned it to the Indian side.

'Cheers for getting the cup delivered,' said Varun with a smirk during a chat with Gaurav Kapoor on Oaktree Sports' Breakfast with Champions, as he took a dig at the PCB Chairman.

The tensions between the two nations India and Pakistan, are at an all-time high as the countries faced off in a war-like situation earlier this year. The entire Asia Cup was marred by numerous controversies involving the two sides.

'After the match, there was nothing next to me,' Varun explains viral coffee cup photo

Further, he opened up about his viral social media post with the coffee cup on his bedside.

"So I knew we were going to win because by the time we won the second match against them, I knew that if we were going to meet them in the finals, we were going to win, so I had planned everything. So I'll take a photo like I am sleeping with the cup and all those things. But after the match, there was nothing next to me, just a coffee cup, so I went with it," Chakravarthy said.

It might have been the first time in the sport's history that a winning team wasn't presented with the championship cup. Several cricketers and former players raised their voices against Mohsin Naqvi's actions, while the BCCI lodged a formal complaint.

It's been over half a month since the Asia Cup Final, but Team India has yet to receive its trophies and medals.
