India’s tour of England in 2025 will see a fresh twist in tradition. The long-standing Pataudi Trophy will no longer be part of the five-match Test series played on English soil.
Instead, this year’s contest will carry a brand-new name, the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. This new title honours two giants of the modern game: Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian maestro and James Anderson, England’s most successful fast bowler.

Why will the India vs England Test series be called the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy?
The India vs England Test matches in England were previously played for the Pataudi Trophy, a name that first came up in 2007.
It was meant to mark 75 years of Test cricket between the two teams and honour the Pataudi family, who gave India two legendary captains.
But in 2025, a decision has been taken to shift focus towards modern-day legends. Now, instead of a family name, the trophy will celebrate two players who shaped the India-England rivalry in the 21st century.
