The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India's premier white-ball T20 tournament, has grown over the years and has become one of India's most influential talent-shaping platforms. 

Jharkhand clinched their maiden T20 title on Thursday, December 18, as they defeated Haryana by 69 runs in the finals in Pune.

Batting first, Jharkhand piled on 262 for three, the highest total in a T20 tournament final. Wicketkeeper-bat Ishan Kishan continued his great run in the competition as he scored 101 in 49 balls. In response, Haryana could only muster 193.

The tournament helps to scout young Indian talent and has become a vital bridge between domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League. 

Every season, the tournament brings together established Indian players, IPL stars, and young and budding youngsters, who see the tournament as a platform for much bigger things ahead.

In a total of 17 editions of the tournament so far, Tamil Nadu has emerged as the most successful team in the tournament, winning the championships three times. 

Mumbai, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Baroda have won the trophy twice, whereas Maharashtra, Bengal, Punjab, Delhi, East Zone, and Uttar Pradesh have won it once.
