India's legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is all set feature in the Big Bash League as he will play for the Sydney Thunder in the upcoming edition of the Australian T20 league.

Ashwin called time on his International career earlier this year, retiring from Test cricket midway through India's Test series against Australia.

The Indian legend later decided to quit the Indian Premier League (ipl), which made him available to play in franchise leagues across the world.

Sydney Thunder announce R Ashwin signing with No. 99 jersey

In a historic signing, BBL franchise Sydney Thunder has drafted in India's legendary off-spinner R Ashwin. The veteran off spinner last featured in a competitive game during the Indian Premier League 2025, where he featured for the Chennai Super Kings.

Ashwin announced his retirement from the IPL last month, calling time on a legendary career. In his retirement note, he mentioned that he wants to look for newer opportunities worldwide and play in a different league.

According to reports, the Indian legend is also expected to play in the ILT20 and the iconic Hong Kong Sixes, which are set to be played in November this year.

Ashwin will play alongside the likes of the young Sam Konstas, Australia's legendary opener David Warner, pace bowler Daniel Sams.

He will also be accompanied by other international cricketers including Pakistan's all-rounder Shadab Khan, Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson, and English keeper-batter Sam Billings.
