Despite often being away from the spotlight, Axar has been one of India's most dependable performers in recent years — contributing crucial runs down the order and delivering under pressure with the ball.
Suryakumar Yadav praises Axar Patel's clutch performances
Speaking on journalist Vimal Kumar's YouTube channel, Suryakumar said Axar stands out for his composure and reliability across formats.
"If I had to describe him in two words, he is the unsung hero. Whether it's T20s, ODIs, or Tests, he has performed solidly everywhere," Suryakumar said.
He added, "He bowls during tough moments — in the powerplay, the 19th or 20th over, and always delivers. Whenever the game gets tight, I just look at him. He doesn't say much, just runs up, hands his cap to the umpire, and gets the job done."
The Indian captain also revealed that Axar often volunteers to bowl in the most demanding situations, showing his self-belief and leadership on the field.
