After missing out on the three-match series against Pakistan, Aiden Markram is back at the helm in T20Is. South Africa announced their squads for the ODI and T20I series in India in November and December.
Pacer Anrich Nortje is also set for a comeback after over a year out due to injuries. The T20I series against India will serve as a timely preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka early next year. South Africa had reached the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

"The T20I series in particular is an important opportunity for us to finalise our squad ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup, which will also be played in India," South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad told ICC media.
"Getting clarity on combinations and roles now is crucial as we build towards that tournament.
“It's also really good to welcome Anrich back into the T20I side after he missed the previous tours through injury. We know exactly what he brings, so we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
Kagiso Rabada, who suffered an injury in the build-up to the first Test against India, has been forced out of the ODI and T20I series as well.
