Shubman Gill is currently playing in the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE where India made a statement in their opening match by dismissing the hosts for just 57 and chasing the target in 4.3 overs. Gill - unbeaten on 20, had little to do in the one-sided contest.

Off the field, though, the India skipper made headlines during a chat on the Apple Music YouTube channel where he opened up about his love for music, sports and an unusual cricketing experience in England.

Shubman Gill recalls cricket session with Bruno Fernandes

During the conversation with host Naina, Gill was asked about the "weirdest person" he had ever played cricket with. The Indian opener revealed that it was none other than Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes whom he met during a camp at Old Trafford.

"Probably Bruno Fernandes ’cause he's from Portugal," Gill said.

He explained that while many of United's English players had played cricket at some stage in their school days, Fernandes and several others had never picked up a bat or ball before. Watching them try the sport, Gill said, was both fun and fascinating.

When Naina teased him about not being a Manchester United fan despite the experience, Gill quickly corrected her.

"No, no, I am a Man U fan. I love all sports, and just watching different athletes go about their things and knowing their mindset is something I really enjoy," he said.
