Suryakumar Yadav shares positive update on Shreyas Iyer's injury
Speaking ahead of the first T20I against Australia in Canberra, Suryakumar confirmed that Iyer is "stable" and "out of danger." The Indian skipper revealed that Iyer has been responding to messages from teammates and is in good spirits.
"The first day, when I got to know that he was injured, I called him. I got to know that he didn't have his phone, so I called the physio and he told me that he was stable. Over the last two days, he has been replying on the phone, which means he is doing fine. He is under supervision for a few more days, but everything looks good," Suryakumar said.
Iyer out of ICU, expected to return soon
According to a PTI report citing a BCCI source, Iyer has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit and continues to recover in a Sydney hospital. He is expected to remain under observation for a few more days before being cleared to travel back to India.
Suryakumar, who spoke fondly of his teammate, called Iyer a "rare talent" and joked that rare injuries happen to rare players. With Iyer now stable, the Indian team will be hoping for his swift return home after the series.
