‘Ekdum senti’: Abhishek Nayar reveals the only film that made Rohit Sharma cry image

Rohit Sharma is often seen as one of the calmest figures in Indian cricket - composed on the field and measured off it. But even the most unflappable personalities have their softer sides.

Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar - who shares a long-standing bond with the opener, recently opened up about a rare moment when the Mumbai batter got deeply emotional.

Speaking on Sony Sports Network, Nayar revealed the surprising connection Rohit has with a particular Bollywood classic - one that managed to move him to tears.

Rohit Sharma's emotional reaction to Sooryavansham

According to Abhishek Nayar, Rohit Sharma became unexpectedly emotional while watching Sooryavansham - the 1999 Amitabh Bachchan film where the superstar plays both father and son. Nayar disclosed that this was the only time he had ever seen Rohit cry while watching a movie.

"That is one film where I have seen him cry. He got very sentimental," Nayar said on Sony Sports Network.

Nayar continues to remain closely involved in Rohit's training and fitness routines - often monitoring his sessions even after the cricketer stepped away from certain formats.

While this revelation showed his emotional side off the field, Rohit's professional journey has been equally eventful in recent times. He retired from T20 internationals after leading India to the T20 World Cup 2024 title and later ended his Test career in May 2025.
