Sarfaraz Khan scored his maiden T20 century in just 47 balls on Tuesday as Mumbai beat Assam in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Khan returned to the shortest format after almost two years and marked his comeback with a brilliant innings to guide Mumbai to a 98-run win, as he remained not out on 100.
The right-hand batter also made a case for himself in front of the national selectors as he continues to work hard to return to the Indian team.

Can Sarfaraz Khan return to the Indian team?
Sarfaraz made his Test debut last year and scored his maiden international century against New Zealand in the first match of the three-game series in Bengaluru.
Khan then travelled Down Under for the Australia tour but did not get a chance to feature in any of the five matches and was subsequently dropped from the Test team.
Since then, the batter has worked on his fitness and has shed a lot of pounds to inch closer to the lofty physical standards required in the modern game.
Khan's consistency at the domestic level could land him a place back in the Indian team soon and might also break into the ODI and T20I teams, alongside the red-ball format.

Will Sarfaraz Khan make IPL comeback?
Sarfaraz Khan has not featured in the IPL since 2023, with his last appearance in a game dating back to 2021 for Delhi Capitals.
In the last two seasons, Khan went unsold and did not feature in of the 10 squads. However, with his impressive form in SMAT, Khan is making a compelling case for himself to get picked in the upcoming IPL 2026 mini-auction, which will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
