India is scheduled to play the West Indies in a two-match Test series at home starting on October 2nd. The first Test will be played in Ahmedabad, which will be followed by a game in New Delhi.

Sarfaraz is likely to be included for the West Indies Tests.

After being dropped from India's squad for the five-Test matches against England, Sarfaraz is expected to make a return to the side. The Mumbai batter was sidelined from the action after suffering a quadriceps injury that he suffered during the Buchi Babu tournament last month.

Sarfaraz is currently under rehabilitation at BCCI's Centre of Excellence, and if reports are to be believed, the veteran Mumbai batter is expected to regain full fitness by September 29, just a couple of days before the start of the Test series.

Although Shreyas Iyer was potentially being looked at as the middle-order option, his taking an indefinite break from Test cricket has paved the way for Sarfaraz to make a return to the India squad.

In his Test career for India so far, Sarfaraz has piled up 371 runs in 11 innings with a batting average of 37.10. He has scored a total of three half-centuries and a solitary century.

India is expected to announce their squad for the Test against the West Indies on September 24th.
