Legendary Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might not get a chance to realise their dreams of playing at the 2027 ODI World Cup, as they are not part of the team management's plans for the flagship competition at the moment, according to Dainik Jagran.
Sharma and Kohli, who have represented India in the ODI format for nearly two decades, have already announced their retirements from the T20 and Test formats, but were hoping to represent India one last time at the World Cup two years from now.
Both players brought curtains down on their respective T20I careers just hours after helping India win the T20 World Cup in Barbados in 2024.

Why Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might not feature at the 2027 ODI World Cup?
The Dainik Jagran report further claims that India's upcoming white-ball tour of Australia in October and November could be the duo's swansong as the team management wants to try out younger players and slowly incorporate them into the national team ahead of the World Cup, two years from now.
However, Sharma and Kohli could still be included in the World Cup squad provided they play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy later this year.
The VHT 2025 starts in December this year and will go on until January. The Indian cricket stalwarts will have to prove their form and fitness by taking part in the competition.
