Rohit Sharma is widely regarded as one of the finest batters to have played in the white-ball format. Having amassed over 11,000 runs in ODIs and more than 4000 runs in the T20 format, the Indian icon is truly a modern-day great.

While Sharma quit the T20 format last year, alongside Virat Kohli, just moments after leading India to the T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados, he is still active in the 50-over format and recently led the Men in Blue to a Champions Trophy triumph in the UAE.

With the Hundred going right now, some of the star England players were told to pick their ultimate all-time Hundred XI, featuring the best players in the world, across generations.

Three Indian stars, including Sharma, were named in the ultimate Hundred XI but shockingly, Kohli missed out on the team, despite being an all-time great across all formats.

Ultimate Hundred XI - Rohit Sharma picked as Virat Kohli misses out!

Former England captain Jos Buttler began the selection process, while speaking on Sky Sports, as he named 'Universe Boss' and West Indies legend Chris Gayle as his first pick.

Buttler said: "He is probably as destructive and intimidating as anyone has ever been at the top of the order. The Universe Boss will be my first pick."

England spinner Adil Rashid then jumped into the discussion and recommended Sharma's name as he added: "I will go for Rohit Sharma at No. 2. He is a player who can take away the game very quickly and effortlessly."

Star England batter Joe Root named another Caribbean legend, Vivian Richards, while Jacob Bethell chose Brian Lara as his No.4.

English fast bowler Gus Atkinson picked compatriot Sam Curran as the No. 5 player while Australia's Ben Dwarshuis picked KKR star Andre Russell for the No. 6 spot.

No.7 spot belonged to Ravindra Jadeja, as Harry Brook: "No. 7, Jadeja, because he is very good, a left-arm spinner and he can hit at the end and he is an amazing fielder as well."

MI legend Kieron Pollard and Shoaib Akhtar were chosen for the No.8 and No.9 positions and Jamie Overton named India's Jasprit Bumrah as the final player in the lineup, as he said: "No. 10, I would like to go with the best pacer in the world at the moment, Jasprit Bumrah. White-ball skills are at a different level. Yorkers, slower deliveries, rarely go for over six runs an over and can bowl in the powerplay and at the death."

What next for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli?

With the India stalwarts retired from T20 and Test formats, the duo won't be back in action for India until October, when the Men in Blue host reigning world champions Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting October 19.
