The semi-final between India and Australia in the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 is set for October 30 at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. However, rain remains a major concern ahead of the knockout clash.

The last league match between India and Bangladesh at the same venue was interrupted by rain, and forecasts suggest the weather could once again play spoilsport.

As per AccuWeather, Navi Mumbai is expected to see around 69% chances of rain on match day, with cloudy skies and intermittent showers throughout the day. The temperature is likely to hover around 32°C.

With the stakes higher than ever, fans are anxious about what happens if rain disrupts the semi-final.

Reserve day confirmed for India vs Australia semi-final

According to the ICC's Playing Conditions for the tournament, both semi-finals and the final have reserve days allocated.

If rain prevents a full match on the scheduled day, the game will resume on the reserve day — starting from the exact point where it left off. The timings will remain the same as the original day.

Each team must bat for at least 20 overs for a result to be declared. If that minimum can't be completed despite using extra time, play will move to the next day.

"Every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs. Only if the minimum number of overs can't be bowled will the game continue on the reserve day," the ICC’s rules state.

What if the reserve day is also washed out?

If the rain persists and play is not possible even on the reserve day, the semi-final result will be decided based on the league standings. The team that finished higher in the group stage will advance to the final.

In this case, Australia, who topped the points table, would move through to the final, while India would be eliminated without a ball being bowled. The same rule applies to the other semi-final between England and South Africa.

Fans will be hoping for clear skies, as the defending champions and the hosts gear up for one of the tournament's most anticipated encounters.
