The ongoing ICC Women's World Cup in India and Sri Lanka has gained some unprecedented traction from cricket fans, as all eight nations have produced high-quality cricket in the first two weeks of the tournament.

As usual, the heated rivalry between India and Pakistan has been at the forefront again, shattering all viewership records during their clash in Colombo.

The two teams collided at the R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday, October 5. India's collective batting effort took them to 247 runs in the first innings despite Diana Baig's valiant 4/69 (10).

Apart from Sidra Amin's 81(106), Pakistan could not challenge the Indian bowling attack, which was led by Kranti Gaud's Player of the Match-winning spell of 3/20 (10) in their 88-run win.

IND vs PAK match breaks viewership records at the Women's World Cup

On October 16, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the official viewership numbers from the first 13 matches of the tournament that showed a whopping growth of multiple folds as compared to the previous edition.

According to the numbers, over 60 million viewers tuned in to the first 13 matches of the competition, five times the number of viewers who tuned in to the previous edition played in New Zealand.

The match between neighbours India and Pakistan produced record numbers of 28.4 million viewers and 1.87 billion minutes of watch time, making it the most-watched women's international cricket match of all time.

During this period of 13 matches, the broadcasters and streamers recorded a total of 7 billion minutes worth of watch time, which is 12 times that of the 2022 edition.
