India's explosive wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has returned to the top tier of Test cricket's batting elite. Following his breath-taking twin centuries in the opening Test against England at Headingley, Pant has climbed to No. 6 in the latest ICC Test rankings.

While his efforts were not enough to save India from defeat, Pant’s return to red-ball dominance was a standout moment in an otherwise tough outing for India. In the same rankings update, Australia's Travis Head has broken into the top 10 amid the ongoing West Indies series.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the Test bowling and Ravindra Jadeja retains his status as the top-ranked Test all-rounder.

Pant climbs to No. 6 in ICC Test rankings 2025 after stunning show vs England

Pant jumped one place to No. 6 after scoring 134 and 118 in the two innings at Headingley. His total of 252 runs was the most in the match.

With a career-high 801 rating points, he is now just one position shy of his personal best of No. 5 from 2022. Only Joe Root, Harry Brook, Kane Williamson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Steve Smith are currently ranked above him.

Root scored 28 and 53* in England's successful 371-run chase continues to hold the top spot.

England opener Ben Duckett also made a leap. His blazing 149 not out at the top of the order has taken him to a career-best 787 points - keeping him at No. 8.

Travis Head breaks into top 10

Travis Head's consistency in the Caribbean has earned him a place among the world's top 10 Test batters. The Australian left-hander scored 59 and 61 in Barbados and guided his side out of early trouble; setting up a comprehensive win.

He rose to three spots to No. 10. Head continues to be one of Australia's most reliable middle-order batters - especially away from home.
