India's women's team continued their perfect record against Pakistan in the Women's World Cup 2025, brushing them aside by 88 runs in Colombo on Sunday. The win - their 12th straight over their arch-rivals, once again highlighted the one-sided nature of this historic fixture.

Before the match, India's men's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav had stirred conversation by downplaying the rivalry narrative - a view that now looks more accurate than ever after India's dominant performance.

Suryakumar Yadav’s bold take on women’s IND vs PAK rivalry

Speaking to Star Sports before the India-Pakistan clash, Suryakumar Yadav said that the rivalry only exists when the competition is close - something that has not been the case between these two teams.

"If you talk about rivalry, it's when two teams play 12 games and the score is 6-6 or 7-5. But 11-0 is not a rivalry. Pakistan hasn't been able to beat us in recent times, in men's or women's cricket," he said.

SKY also predicted that India would make it 12-0, praising Harmanpreet Kaur's side for their consistency and strong team culture.

"Women's cricket has been playing a different brand of cricket over the last couple of years. If they stay focused, I'm sure mission 12-0 is possible," he added.

His words proved prophetic as India cruised to win in Colombo.

India women crush Pakistan by 88 runs to extend unbeaten 12-0 record at Women’s World Cup 2025

India were not at their best with the bat. They scored 247 after losing wickets at regular intervals. Richa Ghosh's unbeaten 35 off 20 balls added some late momentum before the bowlers bundled Pakistan out for 159.

The win not only extended India's unbeaten run over Pakistan to 12 matches but also took them to the top of the points table with a healthy net run rate. Harmanpreet's side will next face South Africa on October 9 in Vizag.

Suryakumar’s comments - once seen as bold, now simply echo the reality. On current form, India's women are not just maintaining a record; they are redefining what dominance looks like in cricket's most talked-about rivalry.
