During the 2010s, the powerful duo Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan have stitched some of the most exciting and memorable partnerships while batting together for India.

Hailing from Delhi, they are often seen together, smiling, dancing and making fun of each other. But, things did not seem well between the two for a brief period in the mid-2010s, when the rumours speculated a potential rift during the 2014/15 Australia tour.

However, recently the southpaw has recalled the period in a fun way and shed light on how the then-India captain, MS Dhoni, handled things in his special style and left the batter in awe.

How did MS Dhoni end the rift rumours between Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan?

Opening up on the incident in his recently released book, 'The One: Cricket, My Life and More,' the former opener wrote about how getting hit by the ball while batting led him to retire hurt in the Brisbane Test.

Kohli, who was supposed to be waiting for his turn to bat, had to rush and pad up on short notice, leading to some anger and frustration.

Dhoni went on to respond to the matter in the presser and refuted of any differences within the team.

"Virat used a knife, and he stabbed Shikhar. He just recovered from that and pushed him to bat," he joked after the speculations started spreading like wildfire.

"These are all stories. Marvel or Warner Bros., somebody needs to pick up this and they can make a nice movie out of this. I don't know where it comes from, but if somebody from the team has told you this, then his imagination is brilliant and deserves to write for a movie company and not the team," he said in the presser.

The recently retired Dhawan went on to praise Dhoni in his book and revealed how this incident helped him improve as a person, especially in such positions, where a senior or the captain has to shoulder the responsibility and steer the ship.

Kohli and Dhawan continued shining for India and added tons of more runs as a pair and as individuals in the years to come, before Dhawan was eventually sidelined due to a dip in form, leading to his subsequent retirement.
