MS Dhoni is one of the longest-serving Chennai Super Kings players in the history of the franchise and has spent 16 out of the 18 seasons he has played in the Indian Premier League.

Dhoni had served as CSK captain until the IPL 2024 season, when the leadership role was passed on to Ruturaj Gaikwad. During his stint as the leader of the franchise, he has guided them to a whopping five IPL titles, a record he shares with former India team-mate Rohit Sharma.

The iconic wicket-keeper batter last appeared for the team in the latest edition of the IPL in 2025 and at 44, he is yet to announce his retirement from cricket.

Dhoni's future at CSK has been a hot topic of discussion since IPL 2023, although he has continued to prove everyone wrong by turning up for the franchise in every single season since then.

After a disastrous IPL outing, where CSK finished at the bottom of the table with four wins from their 14 games, Dhoni's future has once again come under the scanner. The veteran star, however, has yet to confirm his retirement

Amid speculation over Dhoni's future with CSK, an image of the cricketer went viral on social media on Tuesday, as the CSK icon was spotted in a Mumbai Indians jersey, a team CSK share a fierce rivalry with.

While Dhoni was not sporting an MI match jersey, he was seen wearing a sleeveless MI tank top, a kit that the Mumbai players often wear during training sessions.

Several fans wondered whether Dhoni was planning to quit CSK and play for MI, but the actual reason is yet to be discovered.
