His six-hitting has been the talk of the tournament, and now he has gone past Rohit Sharma to set a new landmark for India.
How did Abhishek Sharma break Rohit Sharma's record?
Abhishek smashed 75 runs from just 37 balls, and during that knock, he sent the ball five times into the stands. That took his tournament tally to 17 sixes, which is now the most by any Indian batter in a single T20I tournament.
The previous record was held by Rohit Sharma, who hit 15 sixes in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Abhishek also became the first player to cross the mark of 15 sixes in an Asia Cup, going past Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya's 2008 tally of 14.
