How did Abhishek Sharma power India in Asia Cup 2025 Super Four vs Sri Lanka?
In India’s last Super 4 game versus Sri Lanka, Abhishek showed no signs of slowing down. Opening the innings, he went after the bowlers from the first over.
Maheesh Theekshana was greeted with a six and a four, while pacer Nuwan Thushara was hammered for back-to-back boundaries.
He scored at a rapid pace, reaching his half-century in just 22 balls. His final score of 61 kept India in control and once again underlined why he has been the best batter of the tournament.

Which Rohit Sharma record did Abhishek Sharma equal in T20Is?
The knock against Sri Lanka was Abhishek’s seventh straight score of 30 or more in T20Is.
That landmark puts him alongside Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Rizwan, who also managed seven such scores in a row earlier. No other batter has crossed that number before.
For context, Rizwan had his streak in 2021, while Rohit achieved his run between 2021 and 2022. Now Abhishek joins the list, showing his consistency at the international level.
Player | Country | 30+ Scores | Season |
---|---|---|---|
Mohammad Rizwan | Pakistan | 7 | 2021 |
Rohit Sharma | India | 7 | 2021-22 |
Abhishek Sharma | India | 7 | 2025 |

Why Abhishek Sharma’s Asia Cup 2025 run is breaking records in T20Is
Abhishek’s batting has been the highlight of India’s campaign. Not only has he piled on runs, but he has done it at a strike rate above 200, ensuring India’s top order sets the tone in every game.
During the Sri Lanka match, he also crossed the 300-run mark in a single Asia Cup edition, becoming the first-ever player to do so.
For a batter who is still only 25, such numbers underline why he is currently ranked as the world’s No.1 T20I batter.
If Abhishek continues in the same fashion, he could well become the difference-maker in the Asia Cup 2025 Final.
