The 2025 Asia Cup continues to stir trouble long after its conclusion, with a fresh storm brewing around Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and Asian Cricket Council chief Mohsin Naqvi.

What began as a tense India-Pakistan standoff on the field has now escalated into a diplomatic tussle off it, following Naqvi's controversial decision to walk away with the Asia Cup trophy after India refused to accept it from him.

The move triggered outrage within the BCCI, who have in the past indicated that they would raise the issue with the International Cricket Council.

BCCI issue fresh warning to Mohsin Naqvi

According to a report from NDTV, BCCI have now sent out a fresh warning to Naqvi and have urged him to hand over the trophy to BCCI or else they will raise the issue in ICC's meeting in Dubai next month.

Naqvi, on the other hand, remains firm on his stance that if India want the trophy, then Suryakumar Yadav will have to personally collect the title from him, a move that BCCI has firmly rejected.

Mohsin Naqvi's ICC future under scrutiny

The incident has strained cricketing ties between India and Pakistan even further, and reports suggest the BCCI may push for Naqvi's removal as ICC Director.

As both PCB Chairman and Pakistan's Interior Minister, Naqvi's political positioning has also drawn attention amid heightened tensions between the two nations following the Pahalgam terror attack.

For now, the trophy remains in Dubai. Whether Naqvi faces formal censure or removal will depend on how forcefully the BCCI pursues the issue at the ICC's next board meeting.
