Australian cricket team's T20I captain Mitchell Marsh recently named his all-time India-England-Australia combined playing XI in the ODI format.

While usual suspects like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Adam Gilchrist made it to the team, Marsh left out Australia legend and two-time ODI World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting and a modern-day great Rohit Sharma from India.

India, England and Australia have dominated international cricket in the ODI format for over two decades. Since the turn of the century, only these three nations have won the 50-over World Cup.

Australia won in 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2023, while India and England won once each in 2011 and 2019, respectively. India also reached the final in 2003 and 2023, while they made it to the last-four stage in 2015 and 2019.

India legend Sachin Tendulkar is the all-time highest run scorer in the ODI World Cup history with 2,278 runs under his belt. He is followed by Virat Kohli, Ricky Ponting and Rohit Sharma.

Marsh made his picks while appearing on Fox Cricket. He was asked to choose his openers first and his options were Mark Waugh, Rohit Sharma, Jonny Bairstow, Sachin Tendulkar and David Warner. The all-rounder went ahead and picked Tendulkar and Warner from the list.

In the middle order, the Aussie picked Virat Kohli, Joe Root and Michael Bevan, while leaving out legends like Ricky Ponting, Eoin Morgan and Michael Clarke.

Among the wicket-keepers, Marsh chose Adam Gilchrist, while snubbing legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni and former England ODI skipper Jos Buttler. Marsh then pushed Gilchrist to the opening slot and brought down Tendulkar to No.3.
