Speaking at the CEAT Cricket Awards, Lara reflected on how Rohit has handled criticism and setbacks throughout his career. The former West Indies captain said he admired how Rohit never lost his composure or joy for the game, even when under fire.

“What I respect about Rohit Sharma is that he was never short of being criticised. I'd pick up the newspaper and somebody always had something to say about him. Whenever I see him play, he has that love and that smile on his face. He'd get knocked down and then pick himself back up. In the twilight of his career, he's led his country to so much success,” said Lara.
