The International Cricket Council (ICC) has updated its latest Test batter rankings after the 1st Test at Headingly between India and England. English veteran Joe Root retained the number 1 spot over his teammate, Harry Brook.
Rishabh Pant made his way back to the top 10 of the list with his fellow teammate, Yashasvi Jaiswal, staying in the top 5. Three out of the 'Fab 4' stay in the top 10, while Babar Azam drops to the 22nd position.

Rishabh Pant creates history: First Indian wicketkeeper to reach 800 ICC Test ranking points
Joe Root continues to stay at the top of the pile with his consistent performances, closing in on 900 points with 889 to his name, followed by his fellow countryman, Harry Brook, who sits second with 874 points.
Following a really well-played first innings against England in the 1st Test of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, Yashasvi Jaiswal stays at 4, just behind Kane Williamson with 851 points, 20 behind the Kiwi.
Steve Smith and Temba Bavuma retain their 5th and 6th spot in the table respectively, following a bright outing in the recently concluded World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

Kamindu Mendis also rose up a spot with 759 points to his name. The third of the fab 4 in the top 10, Steve Smith ended the home summer, finding some form and at number 8 with 746 points.
After his classic in Headingly, Rishabh Pant also jumped 1 spot to go to number 7 with 801 points. The southpaw became the first Indian wicketkeeper to reach 800 points in ICC Test rankings. Ben Duckett jumped 5 spots to occupy the 8th position in the table, following his stupendous hundred in the second innings vs. India.
Daryl Mitchell moved down to the 11th position with 725 points, while Kamindu Mendis and Saud Shakeel retained their spots in the top 10 despite moving down by two spots.
Despite a strong hundred against Australia in the WTC Final, Aiden Markram moveddown by 1 spot and sits in the 12th position with 723 points, followed by Travis Head, who sits at the 13th position with 716 points to his name.
England's Ollie Pope and Indian skipper Shubman Gill jumped 5 and 3 spots, respectively, to occupy the 19th and 20th spots, with 667 and 660 points, respectively.
