Rohit Sharma may have just hinted at the end of an era. The former India captain wrapped up the Australia ODI series with a masterful century at the Sydney Cricket Ground — and then left fans wondering about his future.
His cryptic social media post, paired with his stunning performance, has sparked widespread speculation that this might have been his final appearance in Australia.

Shortly after the third ODI, Sharma had told Ravi Shastri and Adam Gilchrist on Fox Cricket that this might be his last trip to Australia with the Indian team, as he said: "I've always loved coming here. I enjoy playing cricket over here.
"Fond memories of 2008 and nice way to finish. Getting that knock and getting that finish. I don't know if we will be coming back to Australia but it was fun all those years I have been here, lot of good memories, bad memories but all-in-all, I'll take the cricket that I have played here."
Rohit's Sydney post leaves fans guessing
After guiding India to a nine-wicket win in the Sydney ODI, Rohit shared a post from the airport, captioned, "One last time, signing off from Sydney." The image, showing him giving a two-finger salute, quickly went viral among fans.

Many interpreted the message as a farewell note — possibly signalling the end of his international appearances Down Under. Adding to the buzz, Rohit had earlier admitted during the post-match chat that he was unsure whether he would return to Australia again for cricket.
Despite the speculation, there has been no official word from Rohit or the BCCI about any retirement plans. Both he and Virat Kohli are expected to feature in India's upcoming home series against South Africa.

Player of the Series after a strong comeback
Rohit's series was a story of revival. After a disappointing start in Perth, he responded with a composed 73 in Adelaide and capped it off with an unbeaten 121 off 125 balls in Sydney — a classic Rohit knock full of timing and poise.
His consistency earned him the Player of the Series award and reaffirmed his place as one of India's most dependable ODI batters. More importantly, it showed his ability to rise above scrutiny, silencing doubts about his form and future.
