Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has played under several captains but his time with Rohit Sharma left a lasting impression.

As he prepares to return to competitive cricket in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League 2025 with the Lucknow Falcons, the swing specialist has offered insight into what sets Rohit apart as captain.

His remarks come ahead of the Lucknow Falcons' opening match against the Noida Super Kings on August 18 with Rohit now solely focused on ODI cricket after retiring from T20Is and Tests.

Speaking on the Lucknow Falcons' podcast, Bhuvneshwar highlighted Rohit's ability to understand and utilise each player's strengths. He said that the Indian skipper knows how to bring the best out of his squad while creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the dressing room.

"Rohit Sharma is a mature captain who knows how to use his players and how to bring out the best of his players. He understands each player's strengths & uses them well. He also talks to me like a normal friend," said Bhuvneshwar.

Rohit's captaincy tenure has delivered consistent results. In 142 matches across formats, he has led India to 103 wins with just 33 losses.

His Test record includes 12 wins from 24 matches while his T20I success rate is particularly striking: 49 wins in 62 games - giving him a win percentage of 74.41, among the best in modern cricket.

Bhuvneshwar's praise adds to the growing acknowledgment of Rohit's leadership style. It could serve India well as they build towards the 2027 ODI World Cup.
