India's veteran opener KL Rahul continued his good run in the longest format, as he smashed a wonderful century in the first home Test against the West Indies. He finished his innings on 100 runs off 197 balls before being dismissed.

Rahul's finger-in-mouth celebration after completing the hundred has now gone viral on social media. The celebration was heartfelt and unique. After raising the bat, he faced two fingers in his mouth as he celebrated the ton. 

What does KL Rahul's finger-in-the-mouth celebration mean?

KL Rahul's celebration looked like a tribute to his newborn daughter, Evaarah. Rahul became a father just a couple of months ago, and his daughter puts her fingers in her mouth, much like other infants do.

His celebration caught the people's attention, as it showcased a father's love for his daughter. Moreover, scoring a home century after a long time would have been an emotional moment for the Indian opener. 

KL Rahul ends Test century drought at home

Rahul has finally scored a hundred on home soil. What made the ton even more special was that it came after a long wait of 3211 days at home. The Indian Test opener last smashed a Test hundred on Indian soil back in 2016 against England in Chennai.

Known for his calm and composed demeanor, the Karnataka batter has been in a prolific batting form in the past year or so.

While many questioned his place in the Indian side, the star batter was presented with an opportunity to open the innings for India in the series against England, and ever since, he hasn't looked back.

After a terrific series in England, where he scored 532 runs in 10 innings at an average of 53.20, his century in the first Test of the home season is a big positive for the Indian side.
