Is Jasprit Bumrah injured? Explained why India pacer bowled only one over with new ball before Tea on Day 3 image

India's hopes took another hit on Day 3 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford when Jasprit Bumrah was seen walking off the field after bowling just one over with the second new ball. With the match already slipping away, Bumrah's potential injury raised immediate concerns among fans and commentators.

Bumrah had just been handed the new ball when he returned for a fresh spell in the second session. But the pacer conceded 11 runs in that over and was then replaced by debutant Anshul Kamboj.

Speaking on-air, Ravi Shastri confirmed that Bumrah had twisted his ankle - not during play but while walking down the dressing room staircase. While the injury was not serious enough to keep him out entirely, it did restrict his availability with the ball.

Bumrah eventually returned to the field but didn't bowl again before Tea. As Shastri and Ricky Ponting explained, the reason was ICC rules.

Bumrah was not allowed to bowl until Tea on Day 3 of Old Trafford Test

Under current playing conditions, if a player is off the field for more than eight minutes, they must spend the same duration back on the field before they are allowed to bowl. Since Bumrah was off for about 30 minutes, he was ineligible to bowl again until after Tea.

Cameras also picked up Bumrah wearing different-coloured boots -- blue and white -- rather than his usual pair, hinting that the team might have been managing his discomfort with gear changes, too.

Meanwhile, to make matters worse for India, Mohammed Siraj was also seen limping after his 99th over and eventually left the field.
