India picked up where they left off in the first Test as they dominated West Indies in the second match of the series in Delhi until the third day of the game.

Batting first, the hosts put up a mammoth total of 518 runs courtesy of centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Shubma Gill, while Sai Sudharsan missed out on his maiden ton by a whisker.

West Indies were then bowled out for just 248 runs in the first innings as they were asked to follow on. India hoped that they would repeat their performance from the first Test and inflict an innings defeat to wrap up the series.

The Windies batters, however, had a different plan. After losing the first two wickets for 38 runs, John Campbell and Shai Hope stitched an epic partnership for the second wicket, while Justin Greaves and Roston Chase contributed with their cameo innings as the visitors successfully saved an innings defeat and even took a 120-run lead.

Chasing 121, in the final session on Day 4, India managed to put up 63 runs for the loss of one wicket as the match dragged on to Day 5.

Jaiswal started his innings on a fiery note as he hit two quick boundaries. The southpaw looked to be in a hurry as he wanted to finish off the game in Day 4 itself, but got out cheaply for just eight runs in seven balls.

Reacting to the match being dragged to the fifth day, all-rounder Washington Sundar said in the press conference, "I mean, the England series definitely made us understand what it actually feels like to be on the field for five days because even in England we fielded for about 180 to 200 overs every game.

"So this definitely isn't something very new to us. And yeah, I mean, a lot of you all would have liked if the game got over today, but Jaiswal did his best and on another day would have definitely finished it today."
