The 38-year-old opener set the tone for India's 237-run chase against Australia. This milestone also saw Rohit match several of Sachin Tendulkar's records.

With Virat Kohli alongside him, the pair continued to break partnership records as India fought to win the last game of the series.

By scoring his 33rd ODI century, he equalled Tendulkar's record of 45 international centuries as an opener for India. Rohit also surpassed Virender Sehwag's overall run tally (15,758) to become India's highest-scoring opener across formats, achieving this in 11 fewer innings.

Record-breaking ODI centuries vs Australia

Rohit's century in Sydney also marked his ninth against Australia, matching Tendulkar's tally in just 49 innings. At 38 years and 178 days, he became the second-oldest Indian to score an ODI hundred, behind Tendulkar (38 years, 327 days).
