India's ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer is nearing full recovery from his injury and has returned to the team for the New Zealand series. However, his selection is subject to fitness clearance. Captain Shubman Gill also returns from his injury after missing the South Africa white-ball series due to a knock.
Doubts were cast over Rishabh Pant's presence in the 50-over format as he hardly features in the starting lineup over KL Rahul, who is India's first-choice ODI wicket-keeper. However, Pant was given the final nod for the series.
