After the termination of their contract with Dream 11, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the price for sponsoring Team India's jersey.

BCCI increases valuation for sponsoring the Indian cricket team

BCCI's contract with Dream 11 as the jersey sponsor came to an end earlier last month, after the Indian government banned real-money gaming apps. The Indian board has now raised the valuation for sponsoring the Indian side.

As per sources, the new base price for bilateral matches has been raised to 3.5 Cr, while for multi-national fixtures, particularly the ICC and the ACC competitions, it has been set to 1.5 Cr.

The figures floating around are slightly higher than the earlier rates of 3.17 Cr and 1.12 Cr for Bilateral and multi--national events, respectively.

Why is the jersey sponsor valuation for bilateral fixtures higher than multi-national events such as the World Cup or the Asia Cup?

The simple answer for this is that when India plays bilateral cricket, the sponsors' name clearly flashes at the centre of the jersey. On the other hand, during multi-national events such as the World Cup, teams aren't allowed to mention the brand at the chest and are limited to sleeves, which reduces the brand's visibility.

Team India looks for a new sponsor

The Indian team will go to the Asia Cup 2025 without a sponsor. The sponsorship deal is likely to start after the Asia Cup. It is understood that the BCCI is seeking a 3-year deal, with over 130 matches, including two World Cups.

The bidding for grabbing the rights is to take place on September 16, and based on the new valuations, the board is expected to earn more than 400 CR during this period.
