2025 proved to be a historic year for the Indian women's cricket team as they won their maiden Women's ODI World Cup on home soil.
The women's cricket team also witnessed a historic announcement from the Board of Control of Cricket in India as they announced equal pay for the men's and women's teams.

The men's team also had a mixed experience in the last calendar year. It started with a humiliating Test series loss on Australian soil after 10 years but they recovered from the shock quickly by beating England convincingly in a white-ball home series, followed by reclaiming the ICC Champions Trophy after 12 years.
2025 also saw stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announce their retirement from Test cricket, which prompted the BCCI to appoint Shubman Gill first as Test captain and then leader in ODI as well, later in the year.
India held England to a 2-2 draw in an away Test series and then beat West Indies 2-0 on home soild but then they faced a humiliating series loss against South Africa.

In the T20I format, the Indian men's team convincingly won all of their matches in the 2025 Asia Cup and successfully defended their title in the UAE.
