India’s last league game against Oman turned out to be far from easy. Jatinder Singh’s side bowled with fire, making it tough for the Men in Blue to settle. India kept losing wickets at regular points.

That was when Sanju Samson, who had not batted in earlier matches, stepped up at number three. He played a steady hand, scoring 56 runs in testing conditions.

Though it was his slowest fifty in T20Is, taking 41 balls, it proved priceless. Samson stayed calm while wickets fell around him, helping India reach 188 for 8 in 20 overs.

Samson’s half-century not only saved India but also earned him the Player of the Match award. With this, he became the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to win three such awards in T20Is.
