India is set to return to red-ball action when they host the West Indies in a two-match Test series, starting October 2 in Ahmedabad.

The Shubman Gill-led Indian side will carry high confidence from their recently tied series in England, with some new faces raring to make a mark.

As the first of only two Test series of the season approaches, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar has announced the 15-man squad on Tuesday, September 23.

With the home season returning, India will go into the series with a spin-heavy bowling lineup, as Axar Patel returns to the squad in place of Akash Deep.

After his Test return not going as expected, Karun Nair has been dropped from the side to accommodate his fellow Karnataka teammate Devdutt Padikkal, days after his 150(281) vs Australia A.

Rishabh Pant will remain unavailable for the series as he continues his rehab from the toe injury during the Manchester Test in July. Following his 140(197) against Australia A, Dhruv Jurel is expected to keep the wickets with N Jagadeesan named as a backup.
