West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales faces stern action for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the ongoing Test against India in Delhi.

Having lost the first Test in a rather embarrassing fashion, tempers ran high as West Indies looked to bounce back in the series and win their first Test of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle.

As India piled on 518/5 (dec) in the first innings of the Delhi Test, the bowler went wicketless for 88 runs, despite coming into the series in some good form on a personal level.

Why did ICC fine Jayden Seales during the 2nd Test vs India?

In only his second Test in India, it was found that the 24-year-old breached Article 2.9 in the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which states, "Throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match."

The incident took place on Day 1 when Yashasvi Jaiswal was still batting and India was scoring runs freely against the visitors. In the 29th over, Jaiswal defended a delivery straight back at Seales, who threw the ball at Jaiswal during his follow-through.

Seales pleaded his case of trying to run the batter out; however, as he hit Jaiswal's pads, the batter was found comfortable in the crease and he was found guilty of the charge.

For this Level 1 breach, the on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Paul Reiffel, third umpire Alex Wharf and fourth umpire K.N. Ananthapadmanabhan levelled the charge and fined 25% of his match fee.
