After thrilling five days of cricketing action between India and England at the Home of Cricket, Lord's, the caravan of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy now moves on to Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester.
In a hard-fought game that went down to the very last session of the final day, England emerged victorious by 22 runs in the Lord's Test. The English bowlers led by skipper Ben Stokes breathed fire restricting India and taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

Now, as the battle moves to Manchester, the spotlight is on India’s past at this venue, a ground where they are yet to register a single Test victory.
India's overall Test record at Old Trafford, Manchester
As the action shifts to Manchester, India has a big challenge to overcome a dismal historical record at Old Trafford. India first played a Test match at the iconic ground in 1936, and have played nine Tests in Manchester without securing a single victory. The last time India featured at the venue was during their tour of England in 2014
Matches | Wins | Losses | Draws |
---|---|---|---|
9 | 0 | 4 | 5 |
Meanwhile, Old Trafford remains one of England’s most formidable home venues and they return here with a 2-1 lead. England have played 84 Tests at Old Trafford, winning 33 games, while losing 15, and drawing 36 matches.
The records are not at all promising for the visitors, however, their fight and determination in the first three Tests would have given them a lot of confidence. Although the scoreline shows 2-1 to England, one could still argue that India has dominated more than 10 days out of the 15 days of cricket played in the series and would be very confident going into the fourth Test.
