Bangladesh's Asia Cup 2025 campaign has dealt a major blow ahead of their crucial Super Four match with India as captain Litton Das has sustained a back injury during a training session. The setback occurred just two days before the game - putting the team's preparations in jeopardy.

As the injury could affect his participation in the upcoming match, the Bangladesh camp is now facing uncertainty at a critical stage of the tournament.

Bangladesh's Litton Das suffers injury ahead of India clash

On September 22, Litton Das experienced discomfort in his left side while attempting a square cut at the ICC Academy Ground. Team physio Bayzid ul Islam quickly assessed the situation and Litton was forced to withdraw from the session early.

According to reports from Cricbuzz, a Bangladesh Cricket Board official said that while Litton appeared "okay" at first glance, a thorough medical assessment would be conducted to determine the extent of the injury before making any final decisions.

The timing of the injury is far from ideal, as Bangladesh is gearing up for their Super Four match against India on September 24. While the team would hope for a quick recovery, the situation remains uncertain as the captain's leadership and batting are crucial to Bangladesh's chances.

Bangladesh's road to the Super Four was not without its challenges, having barely scraped through the group stage. However, the team gained momentum with a dominant win over Sri Lanka in their first Super Four match.

Litton's injury now casts a shadow over their next critical games - especially against India, who are undefeated and the favourites heading into this match. If Litton is ruled out, it will create a ripple effect as the team has yet to name a vice-captain.

This raises questions about who will step in as captain - especially with just a day's rest before Bangladesh faces Pakistan. Both games are pivotal and Bangladesh will need to win at least one to stay in contention for a final spot.
