Rohit will look to give India a strong start as the team aims to set the tone in this three-match series.
Meanwhile, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl under cloudy Perth conditions and they will hope to use the early movement on offer.
Rohit Sharma’s score today in India vs Australia 1st ODI
Rohit’s return to ODI cricket didn’t go as planned. Playing his first match after handing over the captaincy to Shubman Gill, the experienced opener was dismissed early for just 8 runs off 14 balls.
Facing Josh Hazlewood’s sharp spell, Rohit nicked one outside off and was caught by Matt Renshaw at second slip. It was a classic Hazlewood delivery, hard length, extra bounce and a bit of movement, enough to draw Rohit into a false shot.
Not the comeback he had hoped for. Fans might be disappointed, but Rohit will look to bounce back stronger in the next game.
