In recent years, the Asia Cup is contested in both One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) formats, alternating between them every two years. The tournament brings together ACC member nations in a spirited competition for the title of champion of Asia.
The 2023 Asia Cup was its 16th edition. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan were clubbed in the same group in Asia Cup 2023, co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
India ended up winning the tournament at a canter, with huge wins over Pakistan and Sri Lanka, including a crushing 10-wicket win in the final.
The Asia Cup 2025 is set to be hosted in the United Arb Emirates. As the competition is to be played in the T20 format, it will be a big opportunity for the participating teams to test themselves ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Arch-rivals India and Pakistan have been clubbed in Group A and as per the Asia Cup schedule, the two sides are supposed to lock horns in the group stage on September 14.

How many times has India won the Asia Cup?
India are the most successful nation in the Asia Cup, having clinched the title a staggering 8 times since the tournament's inception. The titles were secured in the years 1984, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018, and 2023, showcasing India's domination over multiple decades.
Sri Lanka is the second most successful team, having won the championship six times.
