Fakhar Zaman given out after long third-umpire check

Fakhar - promoted to open in place of Saim Ayub, started brightly with a couple of boundaries. But on 15, he was adjudged caught behind off Hardik Pandya with Sanju Samson taking the catch behind the stumps.

The third umpire spent considerable time reviewing replays to check if the ball had touched the ground before Samson pouched it. After several angles were shown, the decision went India's way and Fakhar was given out.

The left-hander looked stunned - shaking his head as he walked off. Cameras even caught him speaking animatedly; seemingly in protest before heading towards the dressing room.

Waqar Younis questions the decision

Former Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis - on commentary, voiced his doubts about the dismissal.

"I'm not sure whether the ball carried to Samson. I would want to see another replay," Waqar said.

Visuals later showed Fakhar appearing to share his displeasure with Pakistan coach Mike Hesson before taking his seat. The wicket was a setback for Pakistan - especially as Fakhar's promotion looked promising in the early overs.

The dismissal also gave Hardik Pandya his 97th T20I wicket. However, India's fielding overall remained sloppy with multiple catches dropped in the outfield during the powerplay.
