India’s star batter KL Rahul recently recalled a funny story involving England legend Kevin Pietersen and his wife during the England tour.
Rahul and Pietersen had a lot of fun moments together during the IPL season, and their jokes didn’t stop once the matches were over.

In IPL 2025, Pietersen was working as the mentor for Delhi Capitals, and Rahul was one of the main players in the side.
Their friendly bond often became the talk of fans, especially when Rahul jokingly teased Pietersen for taking a short trip to the Maldives in the middle of the season.
What led to KL Rahul’s cheeky complaint to Kevin Pietersen’s wife?
Rahul shared that his wife, actress Athiya Shetty, had earlier teased him about being too mean to Pietersen after watching a few videos of their fun banter on social media.
"Our banter is different. He is a great sport. He gives it to you also. There was this video, and there were two or three times where I said something and DC posted it on the Insta page. So, my wife was telling me, 'Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy," said Kl Rahul.
Responding to this, Rahul explained that the videos didn’t show how much Pietersen joked around with him off-camera.
"I said, 'Half the things that he does to me and tells me, that doesn't come out.' This is three times that I have given out of the 100 times he is after my life," he added.
When Rahul later met Pietersen and his wife during the England tour, he jokingly complained to her, asking her to tell Pietersen to stop troubling him so much.
"I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. They invited me for dinner and I told her, 'Tell your husband to go easy on me. He is very rude to me," he concluded,
The exchange happened when Pietersen and his wife invited Rahul for dinner during India’s five-match Test series in England, where he was one of India’s most consistent performers.
How did KL Rahul perform in the England series?
Rahul’s form in England was one of the bright spots for India. He scored 532 runs in ten innings, including two centuries and two half-centuries and proved his class in challenging overseas conditions.
His calm batting under pressure and solid partnerships played a key role in India’s campaign as they drew the series 2-2.
