Sydney Thunder's 15 runs on Friday night was a new T20 world record for the lowest all-time score.

Hosted at Spotless Stadium against the Adelaide Strikers, the Thunder were left to do the run-chasing of 140 after they lost the toss and were told to head out to field first.

Fazalhaq Farooqi (3/20) and Daniel Sams (2/23) were the best bowlers for Sydney after their four overs while Chris Lynn (36 runs) and Colin de Grandhomme (33) help set the target.

In an amazing spectacle - not so for Thunder fans - the Sydney eleven faced only 35 balls in their innings, with bowler Brendan Doggett scoring the highest with four runs.

Adelaide bowlers Wes Agar (4/6) and Harry Thornton (5/3) dominated from the first ball, preventing Strikers star Rashid Khan a chance to take some polls.

There was a total of five ducks for the Thunders.

Commentators and supporters were all in disbelief at what they were watching, which left legendary Australian cricketer Brett Lee gobsmacked.

“I’ve never seen a game of cricket like this ever,” Lee said.

“Daffy Duck’s going to get a cramp here! He’s been working hard all night – another duck.

“I haven’t seen a performance like that – it’s appalling for the Sydney Thunder.

“15, really? I’m speechless. (The Strikers) haven’t even warmed up.

“I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Another commentator, Dan Ginnane, likened the humiliating performance to that of juniors.

“This is like an under 10s score ... it ain’t a misprint,” Ginnane said.
