With the Ashes Test series less than six weeks away, David Warner has reignited the oldest rivalry in Test cricket with a trademark jab.

The former Australian opener, speaking at the launch of Kayo Sports and Fox Sports' Summer of Cricket in Parramatta, shared his thoughts on England's much-hyped "Bazball" approach - and didn’t hold back.

The five-match Ashes series begins on November 21 in Perth and the cheeky verbal exchanges have already begun.

David Warner mocks England’s “moral victory” mindset ahead of 2025 Ashes Test series

When asked which team’s style would come out on top in the series, Warner took a jab that caught everyone’s attention.

"The Australian way, because we are playing for the Ashes and they are playing for a moral victory. There's your headline," Warner said.

The comment was a clear dig at England's self-proclaimed “moral win” from the 2023 series, which ended 2-2.

While Warner enjoyed the banter, he also urged caution when it came to England's fiery captain.

“I had the privilege to share a change room with him when he was younger, and he's evolved into a serious cricketer and a fantastic leader. If we can sort of not poke that bear and get him up and about, I think that will help the Australians enormously,” Warner said.

Still, the opener encouraged on-field chatter - as long as it stayed playful.

“I do want to see some bantering out on the field. That's what creates energy and involvement in the game,” he added.
