How did Sri Lanka defeat Bangladesh in the group clash?
This match was expected to be tight, but Sri Lanka did not allow Bangladesh to settle at any stage.
The tone was set early as Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera both delivered wicket maidens with the new ball.
Bangladesh were in deep trouble at 53 for 5 before Shamim Hossain and Jaker Ali steadied the innings with an 86-run stand for the sixth wicket. That partnership gave them a fighting score, but it was never going to be enough.
Sri Lanka’s reply was confident and ruthless. Pathum Nissanka’s fluent 50 from 34 balls gave the chase a strong base. Along the way, he also became the fastest Sri Lankan to reach 2000 T20I runs.

At the other end, Kamil Mishara finished unbeaten on 46 off 32 balls as Sri Lanka wrapped up the target with 32 balls to spare.
