Tension between arch-rivals India and Pakistan continues ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 final, as the customary pre-final photo shoot with the trophy has been called off.

According to journalist Vaibhav Bhola, the Indian team have denied sharing the stage with their rivals amid the ongoing political tension between the two neighbouring nations.

Every multi-nation tournament has the custom of having the captains of the two finalists pose with the trophy a day before the final.

However, as India continue to distance themselves from Pakistan throughout the Asia Cup 2025, the management's decision did not come as a surprise.

Earlier in the tournament, Suryakumar Yadav had denied Pakistan captain Salman Agha a handshake after the toss ahead of their first encounter in the competition's group stage. Later, the Indian team walked away from the pitch after the conclusion of the game without greeting their opponents.

The gesture led to considerable controversy, with even the ICC getting involved. In the second game, the Pakistani players made certain gestures after achieving milestones, which led to further controversies.

Will India be sanctioned by the ICC?

It is unlikely that the Indian team will get sanctioned by the ICC for declining to grace the pre-final photo shoot, as it is not a mandatory rule to attend such an event and rather it's a custom.

What next for India and Pakistan?

India and Pakistan are scheduled to lock horns in the grand finale of the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday, September 28, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
