Indian bowling legend Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League, having won two titles with the Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and 2011.
He ended his IPL career with 187 wickets in 221 matches as the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the competition from his stints with CSK, Rising Pune Supergiants, Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.
He notably returned to CSK and played under MS Dhoni for the final time in IPL 2025, before ending his career in Indian cricket.

Earlier, in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, the veteran spinner and brought the curtain down on his international career.
While many speculated that the ace bowler's playing days are over and he could now focus on a career in broadcasting or taking up a coaching role, a latest report from Cricbuzz claims that Ashwin is likely to extend his playing career.

R Ashwin set to compete in ILT20 post retirement?
The report claims that Ashwin is in talks to join the International League T20 (ILT20) and is set to register himself for the tournament's auction this year.
The tournament organisers are discussing the prospect of bringing the legendary spinner on board and the 38-year-old could register himself before September 10, which is the last date of the registration process.
Ashwin himself has confirmed the new of playing in ILT20, as he told Cricbuzz:
Yes, I am in talks with the organisers. Hopefully, I will have a buyer if I register for the auction.

When is the ILT20 auction?
The auction for the ILT20 will take place in Dubai on September 30. Earlier, the squads were selected through a draft system, however, the organisers decided to conduct auctions from this season onwards.
