Bangladesh women's skipper Nigar Sultana Joty has responded to accusations of physical mistreatment within the national squad. This matter came to light when veteran bowler Jahanara Alam stated that younger players had informed her of unfair treatment.
The accusations arrived shortly after Bangladesh's disappointing outing at the Women's World Cup 2025, where the team managed only one win.

Daily Cricket reported her argument that any significant incidents would have been formally reported, rather than communicated to an ex-teammate residing overseas.
"Why would I hit anyone? I mean, why would I strike the stumps with my bat? Am I Harmanpreet, that I would go around hitting the stumps like that?" Said Joty.
She mentioned that she might show her annoyance in private, but she firmly stated that she's never resorted to physical actions against any team member.
Bangladesh skipper recalls Harmanpreet Kaur incident
Joty's response included a sharp allusion to Harmanpreet Kaur's 2023 on-field tantrum in Bangladesh, during which the Indian skipper smashed the stumps and decried umpiring calls. Joty employed this instance to underscore the unusual nature of the accusations leveled against her.
She stated that the narrative being spread was inconsistent with her character and her history as captain.
"If I really beat someone or harmed someone.. Is there no team management, no coaching staff? Am I the ultimate authority then?" She added.
Joty stated that her actions would have been handled internally had she committed the deeds she's alleged to have done.
