It was a proud evening in Kolkata when the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) held their Annual Awards 2025.
Among all winners, India fast bowler Akash Deep stood out after being honored for his strong performance in the recent Test series in England.

The pacer called CAB the foundation of his cricket, saying the association gave birth to his journey and shaped him into the cricketer he is today.
The ceremony was not only about Akash Deep but also celebrated several Bengal players, coaches, and former legends who gave their best for the game.
What did Akash Deep say after receiving the CAB award?
Akash Deep expressed deep gratitude towards CAB. He said that this association played a huge part in building his cricket career and gave him the support he needed at every stage.
The pacer thanked everyone involved with CAB for guiding him and making him reach this position where he could perform for India.

“My mother gave birth to me, but it was CAB who gave birth to my cricketing journey,” said Akash. “Every pillar of CAB, be it coaches, selectors, ground staff, or even canteen staff, the love I have received from everyone is indescribable in words.”
His words showed the bond he has with Bengal cricket, and how much the recognition meant for him.
The evening also saw Abhimanyu Easwaran receive a special award for his role with India A during the UK tour.
What role did Sourav Ganguly play in the ceremony?
Former BCCI and CAB president Sourav Ganguly was present at the awards and personally handed the trophy to Akash Deep.
Ganguly also congratulated every player and said hard work is what brought them to this stage. His presence added more weight to the event, as he continues to inspire Bengal cricket.

The evening was attended by CAB officials including secretary Naresh Ojha, vice president Amalendu Biswas, and treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty.
Former international players, committee members, and representatives from all affiliated units were also present.
In total, around 206 awards were given during the night, making it one of the biggest recognition events by the association.
